Send a message to your loved ones in hospital whilst they are in our hospital or care units

Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS FT offering alternatives to visiting for families of patients in hospital

10 April 2020At the current time visiting is suspended at Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS FT, which is very difficult for patients and their families. The Trust has introduced a couple of new initiatives for families to be able to keep in contact with their loved ones while they are in hospital or care unit. The Trust’s Patient Experience Team are making a number of devices available so staff can support patients to use video calls to keep in touch with their loved ones as well as introducing initiatives to send messages to patients and keeping families and friends updated on how patients are doing.

For families and friends who are unable to contact patients using their own mobile phone the Patient Experience Team are offering support here too.  Head of Patient Experience, Rob Conyers explains, “We know that families will want to keep in touch whilst visiting is suspended. We are asking that families and friends nominate a single point of contact to keep in touch or get an update from clinical areas once a day. We are encouraging patients to keep in touch with their loved ones using their own phones, and will offer support those who might not have these devices available”.

This service is running 9am until 4pm Monday to Sunday and you can contact the Team on the phone on 0161 922 4466, on email on patient.experience@tgh.nhs.uk or on Twitter using the handle @pt_exp_volun.

Chief Executive of Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS FT, Karen James said, “This is a really tough time for everyone but especially those with loved ones in hospitals or care units that they cannot visit.  At the Trust we are committed to doing the best we can to care for our patients, so we hope these initiatives will offer support and comfort to our patients and their families and friends.”
