Movember

Each Year Movember is responsible for thousands of moustaches on mend faces in the uk and around the world, with men growing moustaches during the month of November to raise awareness of men's health issues, such as prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and men's suicide.

The Movember Foundation runs the Movember charity event, housed at Movember.com. The goal of Movember is to "change the face of men's health." By encouraging men (whom the charity refers to as "Mo Bros") to get involved, Movember aims to increase early cancer detection, diagnosis and effective treatments, and ultimately reduce the number of preventable deaths. Besides annual check-ups, the Movember Foundation encourages men to be aware of family history of cancer and to adopt a healthier lifestyle.

Local Support for Men’s Mental Health – Andy’s Man Club

Andy’s Man Club aim to eliminate the stigma surrounding mental health and create a judgement-free, confidential space where men can be open about the storms in their lives. They aim to achieve this through weekly, free-to-attend peer-to-peer support groups for men aged over 18.

With a service used on a weekly basis by almost 2000 men, and an army of 500+ facilitators, the movement is always continuing to grow on a week-by-week basis.

They run talking groups for men who have either been through a storm, are currently going through a storm, have a storm brewing in life or just want to meet a good group of people with the aim of improving one another. No referral, no registration and no charge. Even the brew and biscuits are free.

The group meets every Monday at 7 pm (except bank holidays) and the nearest one is based in Manchester.
